What is Bar-B-Q? (it's NOT grilling)

To know barbecue, real barbecue, you have to first realize that cooking hot dogs, hamburgers, or halibut over charcoal briquettes in the backyard isn't barbecuing. It's grilling.

CHN Steps Back from Burning Down the Fox BBQ Competition

Community Health Network is very sorry to announce that it will not be organizing a Burning Down the Fox BBQ Competition in 2011.

We love BBQ, love the competitors, love the event and especially want to support Princeton and the Princeton School System, unfortunately we had to make a tough decision and we felt that our resources would be better utilized focusing on health and wellness initiatives in all our communities. We want to thank Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), the competitors, our sponsors, and especially the faculty and staff of Princeton Public school without their help the event would not have been possible.

Any groups or organizations interested in taking over Burning Down the Fox are encouraged to contact CHN at 920-361-6340.

CHN would like to thank all the people, groups and sponsors that worked so hard to make this contest possible. Their efforts and kind considerations are appreciated by the people and students of Princeton and the BBQ community as a whole. THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH!

Why a BBQ Competition? PDF Print E-mail

How did we ever get invloved with Bar-B-Q?
CHN supports many events and activities in our service areas (
Golf Outing, Run/Walk, etc) and the BBQ competition was an excellent opportunity for CHN to bring all our communties together and promote fellowship and family centered activities. The proceeds from this event will go directly to the Princeton Public School to support multiple programs..

BBQ competitions have become extremely popular and are regularly featured in the national media on networks like FOOD TV & THE TRAVEL CHANNEL.

Princeton is located in the center of Wisconsin 's major population centers including Milwaukee , Madison , Wausau , Eau Claire , Appleton/Fox River Valley, Oshkosh , Fond du Lac . As a tourist attraction Princeton draws people from as far away as Chicago and Minneapolis and is located in the middle of CHN service area.

Rules are designed to be fair and equal to all cookers. Integrity of the Contestants, Judges, KCBS Contest Representatives, and Organizers is essential.

Comptition Rules & Guidlines PDF Print E-mail

Don't let all the rules scare you away from becoming an award winning pit master...it's really not all that complicated. It's VERY important for all cooks to read and undertstand the KCBS rules or you could find yourself disqualified.

To give potential cooks a general idea of what is required to successfully compete in a sanctioned KCBS event we have listed the rules in their most basic form (this is NOT a substitute for reading and understanding the rules)
